I like Johnny. I met him in person about a year ago at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Austin and instantly took a liking to him. His presence was/is infectious. Johnny served in the U.S. Army during the Iraq War in the elite 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. So … Johnny was an Army Ranger during the Iraq War. … That’s intense … Afterwards he spent a few years doing paramilitary work protecting US amb assadors to Iraq, and after a period of feeling lost and disoriented in the transition from always vigilant combat-ready military operator to regular ol’ civiilan life, he has since moved through those challenges to today be a leader in the men’s coaching community. He’s also the host of the podcast, The Art of Masculinity … In this episode Johnny and I talk about the challenges men go through on their journey to manhood, particularly the very process of even defining what it means to be a man. We talk about what it looks like when a man is present to his every day life, and why it matters. Johnny also shares one of his key practices that he uses to help a man stay oriented every day towards the life he is committed to living.
