I really enjoyed this conversation with Eivind Figenschau Skjellum of Norway.
His company, Reclaim Your Inner Throne, a rich expression of men’s work that, among other essential insights and practices, helps men reconnect … or even just connect for the first time for so many men, with the Mature Masculine archetypes – KING WARRIOR MAGICIAN LOVER … archetypes founded on Carl Jung’s work and outlined beautifully in the timeless classic of that same name – K W M L – by Robert Moore and Douglass Gilette. The theory goes, that these archetypes are embedded in the DNA of all men, but like a software code not yet given the command to begin running the program, many men in the modern world live perpetually stuck in predominantly adolescent psychological structures, those archetypes locked away in a latent state beyond our grasping, largely due to a lack of thoughtful male elders who can initiate us into manhood, and also an abundance of distractions that appeal to the adolescent self-concerned mind. Because of this, we men risk living deeply unfulfilled, while women risk everything that comes with living in a world with few truly mature men.
Reading that book many years actually changed my life – which I share a little bit about how it did that in this episode.
One of the things I think I love most about Eivind, actually … is he’s from Norway, the historic land of the Viking. I’m obsessed with Viking culture and mythology.
