I just spent 6 days discovering how … mmm, unskilled … I have lived much my life. Particularly in my intimate relationships with women.
I was in an extraordinary seminar called Date With Destiny, with Tony Robbins. If you know him as a motivational speaker … you don’t know him.
Tony Robbins has masterfully unlocked many secrets to our humanity. He has collected simple maps that describe why we do what we do, and more importantly, what we can do about it. He de-hypnotizes people (by first brilliantly hypnotizing them). I’m awake to so many of my past unconscious behaviors that just get in the way of me living fully. Tony creates opportunities for people to learn about themselves in ways I’ve never seen before.
But this is not a promo for Tony.
I simply wish to impart upon you the importance of constantly learning.
Keep exploring. Read books (here’s some of my favorites). If life ever feels stagnant or you’re aching for a breakthrough, go to a seminar, attend a workshop, go sit on a mountain top for 4 days alone and without food or water, or just hire a life coach whose done all those things and absurdly more for over 20 years (like me).
Do SOMETHING to expand your world … Consistently.
Make 2014 your Big Year of Personal Growth!
My 2013 theme was “Go Big or Go Homeless!” (I’m working on 2014.)
Decide that, by next December, your life is going to be richer, more fulfilling, more joyful, more “HELL YES!!!” than ever before … and then explore your passions to discover what actions would support that proclamation coming true.
This seminar last week has shifted my life course. You will see. I’m going to reorient my blogging towards conscious relationships. As a man-boy, I’ve made most all the relationships mistakes that immature man-boys make, except cheating. I’ve never cheated on a partner, but I have lied, run away (and then came back and ran-away again), been wishy-washy, treated my woman like she’s a man, reneged on my word, put her 5th … I’ve failed to step up as a man in a thousand ways. I’ve been a toddler playing house. Thankfully, I love to learn. So now I’m called to turn my insight on that most thrilling journey deep into the heart of humans relating, the masculine-feminine dance of being, relationships as our path to awakening. I know this is the right way forward because it both absolutely titillates my insides and scares me in all the right ways … because it will bring me to the farthest edges of my truth. I love doing my jig along that mysterious edge, even when I fall off.
Whatever your 2014 theme, make sure it excites and inspires you – and scares you, too.
If your dream doesn’t scare you, it isn’t big enough.*
What is your 2014 theme?

One of the things I look for in a partner besides self-awareness, is someone who is consistently exploring and seeking growth. I however recently have realized that though I am not going to lower my standards I also want to have a gentleness around that energy. Because men have had many cultural battles to fight. Learned behavior is exactly opposite for the most part to true ‘manliness.’ So I want to support all men as they begin to figure out for themselves exactly what kind of man they want to be. As I support my ladies and we grow together in our true feminine power.
Indeed! For me, too, Nitai, the commitment to growth as a human being has always been top at my list (well, perhaps 2nd … or 3rd if I’m honest about it 🙂 … I was with a partner for a few years who clearly did NOT have that commitment, and it literally became a living hell (of my own making). … and yes, gentleness around that energy is so important. It can be just as painful – if not more – on the other extreme, where one is sooooo committed to personal growth that it becomes an unhealthy crazy-making obsession. Word yo!! 🙂
I LOVED reading this!
I was a lucky woman meeting you in the event, and got the deepest most welcoming-healing-containing hug from you.
Thank you Bryan! i am very blessed you walked into my life with such caution and soul-caring respect.
Thank you for that hug, I will enjoy seeing how your 2014 unfolds, while I am inspired to my own a couple of thousand miles apart.
Namaste beautiful soul.
Valentina! … I’ll never forget that hug. Yes, I’m deeply honored that we were able to connect, even at the last minute. Thanks for showing up in my awareness. Sending you love from the North. Bryan
